A world within itself, a haveli is structured to compel one to focus inward, allowing the seasons of life to orchestrate the day.

The enclosed yet open courtyard becomes the natural centre for many of the day’s activities, be it during the heat of winter or the winds of spring. There are endless corners, nooks, and intimate spaces which provide varying degrees of hot and cool, perfect for performing a variety of tasks or just a welcome siesta.

The idea of a haveli can be likened to a living character, with open arms, joyfully extended and safely contained. It is a harbour of memories, togetherness, shared emotions and wonderful twists of tales.

In Mukunda, the past has become the present. We regard the haveli as our family home and through years of dedication to architectural exactness, we have painstakingly restored its original glory, to lovingly share with others.

We wanted to bring alive the feelings and memories from childhood and combine them with our spirit of travelling. Our experience has taught us that curated travel events are commonplace, often overlooking the little pleasures that our country India generously bestows on its own.

The Haveli allows one to experience and absorb many of those little known pleasures.

It allows one to enjoy the easy pace of an Indian day throughout all times of the year.

Each season brings an intensity of its own and daily practices observed during this period are woven into each day at Mukunda, providing a sense and taste of our lifestyle, heritage and traditions.

There are favorite spots to indulge in the sun, sip a hot chai or or just allow the cool breeze to caress your thoughts. Food is prepared, the garden grows, festivals are celebrated. It is a place to sit and enjoy, to reflect and to laugh. Here one learns the history of India, through living it genuinely, day to day.
